Programme management individuals will generally be responsible for the management of corporate systems, including: risk management, production planning, cost management, document control and change management. Programme control managers are required to lead programme controls function, monitoring for accuracy and consistency of plans, cost safety, environment and performance reporting, and deploying available controlds team resources to best effect. Applicants are generally required to be familiar with prominent railway methodologies, such as Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) and are preferred to have knowledge of HSQE in a projects environment.

Project management personnel should be experienced in implementing management procedures, demonstrate familiarity with construction related projects, major overhauls and upgrades, (station) refurbishments, implementation of new equipment and/or systems and understand advanced rail specific operating processes. Project managers are expected to have a diverse skills base, incorporating a range of practical elemenets such as contract management, tendering, financial control, supply chain management, recruitment and training, operations, asset maintenance and management, and health & safety systems.
