We are looking for a Technician Engineer FTN GSM-R to work for a large railways organisation bsed in Warrington and Manchester. You will carry out site activities on the FTN/GSM-R network and clear faults to agreed SLAs and undertake network interface enhancement as required for migration on the FTN network in collaboration with the Telecom Engineering Control Centre.

Your role will involve everything from consolidating and transferring old systems, such as cable infrastructure, from different manufacturers onto the new circuit to completing configuration and circuit-provisioning activities to enable migration of services from legacy bespoke infrastructure. Site and network testing, and documenting the results will also be key. Following migration, you will focus on maintaining the network and activities such as clearing faults to agreed SLAs.

Ideally, you will hold an ONC/D (or equivalent) in a related field and be willing to achieve an IRSE (or equivalent) Telecoms Maintainer & Fault Finder licence. You should also be competent in working with invisible laser radiating systems and high power RF equipment. Railway experience would be an advantage although not essential.

Technical competence in SDH, PDH, HDSL, VLAN and GSM-R BTS configuration is also essential, together with testing and faulting techniques including use of all relevant test equipment.
